Good Genes by Sunday Riley

Is great skin genetics or the right cocktail of products? It’s the age old, philisophical question.

For the past 3 months I have been trying out this Lactic Acid Treatment by Sunday Riley, and I can say that this product lives up to its name. This is marketed as an “all-in-one” treatment by exfoliating dull/troubled skin, brightening discoloration, and smoother fine lines. It contains purified Lactic Acid (one of the Alpha Hydroxy Acids/AHAs) meant to exfoliate any dry skin while “fighting build-up of dead skin cells and excess sebum”. This also contains Licorice (brightens), Lemongrass (toning), Arnica, Prickly Pear, and Aloe (all to soothe & moisturize).

I used the recommended 1-2 pumps of this as an overnight treatment every other night. (For sensitive skin, it is recommended to use as a 15 minute mask and wash off.)

I think this product does exactly what is claims to, and really made a difference in the tone/brightness and radiance of my skin. It also helped to clear up current acne and to prevent new breakouts. Overall, I think the biggest takeaway for me was how glowy, hydrated, and healthy my skin felt the next morning. I found myself trying to plan which night I wanted to use this, i.e. if I had a dinner or event happening then I would use this the night before. However, I do have two drawbacks that are pretty typical with this brand- price & size. I used up the 1fl oz bottle in about 3 months, which is not terrible for the size, but given that the bottle was $85.00 I was expecting more product.

I am giving this product 4 stars because of those two drawbacks. However, if you feel ready to spend the coin, this is a really great treatment that I do recommend. If not, I would say go for the Mad Hippie AHA Exfoliating Peel (1.02 fl oz now on sale for $29.99). You can find it here.
